Frequently Asked Questions. Answered!
-
What animation tools is Speech Graphics compatible with?
Our technology is compatible with practically any facial rig. We have specific plugins for Maya and Unreal that further accelerate processes.
-
What happens between lines of dialogue?
Speech Graphics supports head motion, blinking, eye darts and non-verbal sounds like grunts. Breath and laughter will be supported soon, to be followed by other behaviors.
-
I already have a license agreement; where can I download my files?
If you have a login, you can download the appropriate software from our Downloads area.
-
What's the difference between SGX and SG Com?
SGX is used for high-quality, offline animation using pre-recorded audio.
SG Com is a software development kit layer that facilitates real-time animation at runtime. This can be useful when dialogue is triggered by specific in-game events, or to enable player-to-player communication.
-
What languages are supported by Speech Graphics?
Since our technology is based on a universal biological model of speech production, all languages are well supported, even fictional ones. However, the following language packs are available to help achieve the best quality when combining audio with transcripts: English (UK, US), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish (European, Mexican).
-
What is the pricing model?
We have various SGX packages to suit a wide range of situations, whether you’re a small independent studio shopping for a publisher, an established AAA Studio, a publisher with multiple studios, or something in between.
The cost is calculated based on the number of concurrent users you would like to cater for in your animation team, the language packs you might need and the number of character setups requiring support.
-
Is it just the mouth that is automated by Speech Graphics?
No, our technology drives the whole face and even the head and upper body – basically anything that moves when you speak! Our system generates emotional expressions and even effort expressions over the face by analysis of the voice. It also drives head motion, blinks, eye darts, and other natural behavior.
-
What is the ideal machine spec for getting the best performance out of SGX?
There is no minimum machine spec, but processing speeds, and the number of parallel processes you intend to run should be taken into consideration. Some basic recommendations for optimizing SGX for high-volume use include:
Use a dedicated server or desktop, rather than a laptop or similar.
Minimum 16GB RAM.
An Intel chip will have highest performance for our libraries given we use MKL.
In terms of processors, cache per core is more important than number of cores or clock speed.
